Shaman's post in another thread made me think of this..

How many friction calls to you carry with you at the beginning of the season, and how many do you have on you at the end? What about Mouth calls? Do you start trimming the fat, or adding tricks up your sleeve?

Last season, 2009, on opening day if I remember correctly, I had the following in my vest:

QB Glass Eradicator (3 strikers-hickory, purpleheart, carbon)
QB Mini Boat Paddle (This is ole' reliable and will get'em to gobble)
QB Old Boss Hen
QB Pro-Triple
Woodhaven Red Wasp, Copperhead, Redwing
Cane Creek CC Smoker
Custom longbox
Custom box
QB Snuff Tube Call

Thats about what I carry all season.....I'm gonna order that QB Long-Ranger Tube call this week sometime and experiment w/ some of the new Tom Teasers mouth calls.

I can tell you one thing for sure, on slow to no gobbling days, the QB mini-boat paddle and the super snuff tube call has struck many birds...I wont leave home w/o either one of these calls.

That's a pretty good assortment! Do you cover a lot of ground throughout the day going after birds with these calls, or keep it to limited set-ups?

The snuff-tube and longbox are great for run & gun; stop and hammer a location w/ loud cutting/yelping.

I also enjoy setting up and waiting birds out if the game needs to be played like that...been playing around with some yelpers the past few years and some scratch boxes.

On the run & gun days, the QB snuff-tube hangs around my neck and gets a work out---it has struck more birds that had no intention of gobbling than I can remember.

I carry a Bud&Betty custom glass call,a Lights Out custom slate over glass(canary pot / padauk striker) atleast 3 mouth calls,Knight&Hales fighting purrs.I use them all but I am very fond of the glass call for clucks, cutts and purrs..The trick anymore seems to be less calling and PATIENCE!!!
