Nope. Just a bunch of idiots that will move in on top of you, steal your tree stands, or rachet straps, anything they can get their hands on. Then another idiot will come along and tie your stand up with a rope and hunt out of it. They will string ribbon up right through your setup. Walk to within 30 yards of you and start blasting away at a buck. Walk and talk as loud as they can right under your stand. Sit in your stand and throw wrappers beer cans and soda bottles all over the ground. Pretty much anything they can do to make sure nobody kills anything. You probably don't have to ask how I know all this. Im sure Chad or Tim might have a few to add.

but... its a place you hate to love and love to hate. You keep going back year after year but you don't know why. If the spawn of satan where to come out of the ground this is probably where he'd come out.

Looking on the bright side, its probably the mosy easy WMA in Florida to get lost in for days.

Good luck Forester. Hunted Flying Eagle for 3 days and the gobblers were henned up something bad. Going back to FE to try to get my Dad on a bird this friday.

I got a quota for Goethe next week and Dad has a late quota hunt for Citrus. Season is still early yet.

Probably about a 40 min. drive from my house to Goethe WMA. Never hunted the joint, but I have a friend that lives in N. Crystal River, which is only about 20 mins away from Goethe and he has hunted the place for many years. Hope this f'ing rains stops sometime tonight and does not booger up tommorrow mornings hunt, if not already done!!

I'm going to hunt Goethe this weekend. Haven't heard much about this place, so it should be interesting.

Jumper Creek Bear Island is almost under water...trails are 2 ft. deep at some points. Goethe is nothing but a endless sea of palmettos and pine trees that is also full of "running" water....dont think things will heat up until the last few weeks of April at this rate.

I killed my bird last week in Jumper Creek in a foot of water but with the rain from Sunday it may be 3 feet deep. There is dry land but it is one heck of a walk to get to.

Can't wait for my Ocala NF hunt so I can have some dry feet!

FlHunter23

Its high and dry where my spots are over there. Just havent heard any birds... Im sure theres a couple spots on the trails that are flooded though.

I didnt take the boat out last sunday, thank god. I let my buddy borrow it and the douche bag didnt bother to bring it back to me so i went over there saturday night and got it. On the way home it was rattling like a s.o.b. so i met Chad down there instead.

I finally got around to checking it out yesterday and the bearings are gone in it. Literally. The driver side bearings are gone and the passenger side are about there too. Hope i get it fixed b 4 Sunday.

I guess the big secrets out. Now everyone knows you got to wade through knee deep water to get to some dry land. If you make it there with out getting bit by water moccasins or gators then you get to dodge the truck loads of hunters that got there before you did. There was only about 30 trucks down at the parking lots last weekend. If you still wanna go then good luck.

They are probably cussing you after they read the first post :D JC gets a lot of hits.

I only had one bearing left between both wheels. Gotta do some running around friday and see if i can find some new hubs and bearings...

No matter how many people that try and hunt out there, most never last a weekend. There was alot of people on the river last weekend but most don't have a clue how to hunt them birds.

If you envision calling in a long beard in a nice dry Live Oak Hammock you should keep looking.

I saw 5 Cottonmouths out there last weekend and didn't shoot any of them.

And Gators!!!Lord

I wish had an electronic gobble call that would go off every 5 to 10 minutes. Id stick it high in a tree 100 yrds from the parking lot just to F with every buddy. Maybe I could make one one day. It would be solar powered and water proof. Leave it, forget it, and laugh my @$$ off while every trys to call em' in. I guess that would be kinda mean though...

That or a recording of that crazy growling we heard in the morning at the first spot. That would send them packing.

It was at a all time low in their this year...I can only wonder what opening day looked like out there?

Hunted out there one day, killed a bird at daylight and never went back the rest of the season. Did not see another hunter except at the boat ramp but the water was to high for my area and kept the birds roosting to long.
