Anyone ever use Remington Duplex turkey loads? The ones that have both #4 and #6 shot in them..

Never heard of them but wouldn't the heavier lead hit lower than the rest at farther ranges.

That would make sense, but the bigger pellets actually travel farther from carrying more momentum. Think about if you threw a baseball in one hand and a whiffleball in the other, at the same time. The baseball would fly farther in the end, but they would be pretty much neck and neck for a short distance.

At normal turkey hunting ranges with lead loads, the difference is very slight. These aren't meant to be 50 yd head crushers, but instead more like 10-40 yds. They are advertised as being a multi-range load. They aren't new by any means, I just wonder b/c I finally found a gun/choke that shoots them well.

I remember my Dad having them years ago (and I mean years ago) but can't recall him talking about them!!!

Here is a link to the current offering.

The one's I use are olive drab, and have black basemetal. They are camo for turkey hunting! I have my new 870 rocking them, and hope to use this combo to blast a bird instead of my trusty Benelli:D My range is reduced a bit, but maybe I can change that with my latest addition, a Remington Ventalator choke tube. After lots of searching, I finally got a hold of one of these beauties!

I tryed them some years ago and couldn't get them to pattern worth a hill of beans needless to say there in a pile of junk somewhere around here.

They are one of my favorite Lead Shells, and they shoot pretty well through every brand and constriction of choke I've tried, from Full all the way on up to my super-tight SSX. If the shots are pretty close, say 35 yards and in, this is a great shell. I just checked, and I still have 14 of the 3" ones left.
