Well the florida season ended here last weekend and as sad as I am to see it go, especially with nothing lined up for other states now, it has been a tough one. I have never gotten on more unworkable birds or birds that just wouldnt even gobble, in my life. Well on to my next endeavor. Im gonna thin out the coyote population on my lease throughout the summer. Mix in a little golf and some fishing, then on to food plots and dove fields. You guys keep us posted with your stories and pics. I'll keep you posted on my success with the song dongs....

Hey Scott,
Sorry to hear your season is over. Good luck on cleaning out the yotes. I have a few in my neck of the woods to take care of too. A buddy of mine just told me a bold yote tried to run off with one of his decoys. He fed him 3 rounds of 3" #6 copper plated. That dumped him on his face. Sad part was he had a nice longbeard coming in & the yote scared it off.
My Aunt now say's I can take that big longbeard she asked me NOT to kill, at the end of the season when he's finished breeding all the hens. I think I'll save my remaining tag for him. The Ontario season goes until May 31st.
Regards,
George

Just remember, Scott: If it was any easier, there'd be lesser men doing it.
George: That's a mighty fine turkey. I'll try and shoo a few north off of my land down here in KY once season is over so you have some to hunt next season.

Thanks Shaman! It was my first & I will NEVER forget it. Buck fever gots nothing on Turkey fever! Your offer is generous, but your birds would have a long way to run to get where I live :) . About 700 miles if I figured it right. We actually have plenty of turkeys in Ontario now. Population went from 270 released in 1984 up to approx. 80,000 now. A real success story! We are now working on getting the Elk back to Ontario too. Program hit a small bump with worries about CWD, but I'm hoping it starts up again soon. Currently in Ontario we can hunt:
Moose, Black Bear, Wolves, Coyotes, Whitetail Deer, Rabbit, Squirrel, Turkey, Pheasant, Grouse, Goose, & Ducks. Not too bad a selection.

George

Well, our season is over in KY. As usual, it ends with a wimper. It was warm and cloudless with a stiff east wind. Angus and I went out for one last try this morning. Nothing.
We heard one far-off gobble around 8 AM that was definately off our property. We came in and grabbed the garden tractor. Angus rode in the dump trailer and we made the rounds, collecting up all of our blinds. On our way out, we rode past one of my wads, still laying in the middle of the track, with a few stray feathers pasted to the grass with dew.
The gear is all sorted and put away. The wash is all bagged out on the front porch.
I'm certain the gobblers will taunt us well into June. In July we'll start seeing poults running for cover behind the hens. By then, our attentions will be more on the deer coming into the new food plots.
Write soon. Write often, y'all.
If you need me, Google "cervid serial killer." That's me.
