What is your favorite brand of muzzleloader? Why do you like that particular company?

I have a Thompson Center Omega with the thumbhole stock and I absolutely love it. I'll be honest, I haven't really shot any other brands of Muzzleloader but this gun is a sure shot every time. (What more could you ask for?)

Do you use any of the other barrels on it,Centerfire, shotgun, etc?

I haven't changed the barrel (I thought that was a feature of the Encore). I'm not 100% positive but I think the Omega is a muzzleloading-only gun.

You are right! I read it so fast that I completely missed the Omega part!Sorry.I am getting settled in with my new CVA Optima Elite.I want to be ready for the season,as it opens here on Sat. It is in Realtree camo, with Truglo sights.I can now represent everyone at one time. Now I just need some animals to throw smoke at,and I'll be set!I need new photos for Myspace!;)
Best of luck to you.

Good luck Chad :)
Muzzleloaders are definitely the way to go (specially up here in NY where it's that or a shotgun). Make sure to post some pictures if you get something!

I own a couple, I have the Traditions Tracker 209, which shoots great and I have the Knight 85, the Knight is very accurate, but what I dislike about both is it is difficult to dissasemble. I think that i might break down and sell both and buy a Thompson with the speed breech. A fried of mine has one and it is sooooooo simple to take apart.

Tbone, have you looked at the CVA guns at all? They have the new Acura out and this thing might be worth a look.
Take care

The Acura and the Optima Elite are two pimp guns.I have the Elite, and it is a sleeper deal, with available interchangeable barrels, from muzz. to centerfire shotgun,to centerfire rifle and back. The gun itself sells for around the same price as a T/C barrel by itself!

That sounds like a plan. Are any other game animals in during this season?

In Oklahoma muzzleloader season is the start of fall turkey, bad news is there are very few on my property, I did see a nice long beard last year, but never got a clean shot. Then come spring they disapeared off of my property.

I have decided though, keep what i have or not, they are entirely too clean. So saturday I think i will dirty them up a bit.

i miss my old black diamond. that thing was a shooter! i have gone thru a few and finally i traded a bunch of guns and stuff away for a T/C Pro Hunter. i mounted a 3-9x40 Leupold on it w/ Leupold bases. havent really tweaked it yet though. too long from now, deer season opens in NY:)

Well good luck with that new rig. Make sure you hang around here and chat with us while you wait! Things have cooled off since Spring gobbler around the forum, and there is so much ahead.I can't wait to get the next season underway so we can compare notes!

hey guys,
I bought a lifetime archery license (or so I thought) from NYS with my economic stimulus check. I didnt really look at it until recently when I noticed it says "muzzleloader" not archery. SO, the very nice lady said I'd waited too long to fix it up. SO I bought what I needed.
ANyhow, I have this "predicament";) now of getting a muzzleloader for the upcoming fall. Can't let that license go to waste, now, can I? Plus, I think there'll be a new "early" muzzleloader season next year that'll be weeks before early archery to cull anterless deer with unused tags from the previous year.
I'm in Western NY, 7 miles from QB headquarters, looking for a good deal on a muzzleloader sooner rather than later so I can get some range time in with it before archery season. Anyone out there looking to lighten the load in the closet, give me a shout.
