A former QB pro-staff member gave me a regular hurricane years ago. Anyone get to run this newer walnut version? Is it more raspy and deep due to the walnut wood? Or does it make a difference w/ that waterproof coating?

This call is way more "turkey" than ever before. It rolls over from clear to rasp with ease. The waterproof coating gives it a bit higher pitch, but it can be tweaked by using a Scotchbrite pad.

The new Bandito Elite headnet is freaking awesome too! It is so much softer, and more comfortable

They should have offered that new head net in MO Obsession to match their new QB logo cap....

Thats why I am not a big fan of the waterproof coating...All of the waterproof calls I have ever played by any company pretty much all sound the same, irregardless of the wood used in the call.

However, I will admit that I worked a gobbler and some hens one morning in Jumper Creek a few years ago with my Hurricane during a complete downpour..Busted the birds off the roost that morning and sat down and had all the hens passing me waiting on the gobbler to stroll by, then the lightning started to crack and both myself and the gobbler decided to leave.

+1 Chad. Hurricane has become my go to call since it came out. I have one I wouldn't take $500 for. The new one is incredible and I agree 100% on what you said. Every show I work this spring I will sell every one at the store. People love the sound of those things.

From what Ern stated in the video, the Hurricane is QB's #1 selling box call--that says a lot right there.

The Hurricane is the only box call that I own!
I wouldnt mind trying the new walnut one this year!
I find my hurricane does the job on windy and wet mornings!

Looks like the Firebox is no longer in the lineup for 2011. Never played the Firebox.
