Well up here in Ontario in certain parts our black bear season has begun but for some of us we have to wait til September 6th..to get into the action...
Lots of us are into the baiting now with cams out...
Here is a tiny guy that I will pass on...but has a friend who is hunting bears for the first time this year and he may take this "Meater" bear...
Im pumped and I know there is bigger bears in the area...
I have 3 baits out...
I cant wait for the hunt to start....

Company is starting to arrive. :D Although I dont understand why my to established baits from last year aint getting hit...
I think part of the reason is because the landowners grand children were on the property all week long on quads near the baits...
This new baitsite is strting to look promising but still small bears though..

Well I must say that its been a very good week of bear hunting and the weather and all was just great...
I saw four different bears from Thursday til Sunday...all at the same bait...
Thursday I passed up a tiny guy in the morning and I also saw a bigger one that must have got wind of me because he didnt come in and just turned around and took off back in the woods..
Saturday evening was probably my best time ever sitting in a tree.I got in the stand in the evening and at about 6:30 7:00 I see a bear coming right to the bait, this bear im guessing was about 150-160lbs and he stayed til right til dark..it was so tempting to pull the trigger on the excalibur but I didnt and right at dark I decided I will talk to this bear to get him to move off the barrell so I say to the bear"Its time to go bud I need to go home" and he ignores me and then when I stand up in the climber he looks up at me and bolts back into the bush and I could here him going up a tree,,and he got up there fast
It was quite the experience I must say...so anyways he wasnt the one I wanted and I didnt take him...
Sunday evening I take a friend who I have known since we were kids to that bait to see if he could kill one...
I go up the tree in my climber first and my friend comes up in his behind me...At 6:45 directly in front of us here a bear comes and I hear my friends breathing getting louder the bear is out at the barrell for about 3 mins Im guessing before he presents a good shot and my friend did exactly that...He goes about 10 yards and the death moan is on...
We figure its a 100-120lb bear..but he was pumped...
Im going back thursday with another friend to see if I can help him get his first bear,,,no big boys yet at the baits..

No doubt about it Chad....
I knew he wasnt going to pass..he just wanted to kill a bear and there isnt anything wrong with that at all...
Going back at it Thursday evening with another friend...Going to see if I can put him on his first bear as well....Praying for good weather........stay tuned....
