O.K. it is the night before the opening day of spring gobbler season. You are getting things all situated in your vest. You have made sure that you have everything that you can possibly need. What is the most important/favorite call that you put in your vest? This would be the call that you check two or three times to make sure that you have it.

For me it would be the Old Boss Hen call from QB. This is the best diaphram call that I have used. I would not enter the woods without it... Well I wouldnt enter the wood happily without it...

So lets hear what everyones favorite call is.

Hmmmm well I carry three call cases with about 15-20 mouth calls in each case...Any one would suffice for me!!!

This is going to sound like I'm sucking up to QB, but I'm not. If I was limited to one call, it would be my QB Grand Master box call. Mine was purchased back in the Dark Ages, back when the Grand Master was assembled from parts and not routed from a single piece of wood. It's starting to lose it's logo. It's got a scratch on its paddle. It's got stains from rubber bands that rotted away on its sides.

It was the call I first went out with, scratched out a few yelps and got my first gobbler to answer back. It's been with me on every hunt for 24 seasons.

It is not my top choice for rainy or foggy days, because it's tempermental to the humidity. I keep it in a bread bag when I think the air might get to it. However, I get more consistent positive responses from that old call than anything else.

How do you keep them all straight, or doesn't it matter.

Believe or not I can tell the difference between them....I know that sounds like BS but its the truth. But in all actuality it doesent matter. Just depends on the sound of the hen I want to mimic...

I would have to have my old trusty boat paddle and a screamin green jagged edge mouth call.

I like my QB grave digger boat paddle box call and my Primos crystal freak call i wouldn't enter the bush without either one of these calls.

My favorite call would have to be the H.S. Strut Cut'n 2.5. Around here it's hard to get abird to come in without gettin hung up with another hen. With the Cut'n 2.5 we usually get four to five big gobblers and some hens and jakes to come in. It's pretty good for gettin a hen to come in that way you can attract some gobblers to come in then you just have to pick which one.

sounds like the perfect call..........1 call that makes 5 gobblers come in anytime???????? I wish I could invent a call like that, I'd be a millionaire.

I've got a old slate call from H.S. Strutt that sounds great....probally I'd pick that one. It would be nearly impossible for me to have to pick just one call though. Not trying to sound like a suck up....but.....I'm lovin' the sound of "the curve" long box, I can't wait to get that thing in the woods.

If I could only have one call, it would be my Cane Creek slate call with my Woodhaven birch flaretip striker. It's my favorite call ever. It makes them gobble when they don't even mean to.

A close second is my Bud and Bettys glass call. It's won a few NWTF awards and is made right here in S.C.

I have bought and threw away so many calls til it ain't funny. The Cane Creek slate has been in my vest for a few years and I can't see it leaving.

My old time favorite mouth call is the Old Boss Han from QB. That call has called more turkeys to the oven than all others that i have used. You can use it to call load and agressive and also tree yelp and cluck. My favorite friction call is the Knight and Hale OL Yeller, it has the same features as the ol boss hen but also allows you to switch up with each other to sound like a flock with old turkeys and young.
Another call that i like alot is the QB barrel mounted pull call. One spring i had a old hen at my feet purring and looking for a fight. She knew that something was there i just had to barly wiggle my finger, she stayed around for a good 15 min.before walking off.

My favorite call is the lynch world champion box call that i bought back in 1972 when they came in a cardboard box. I have had great luck with that old call. I have bought other calls and nothing compares to that call. I bought another lynch world champion box call 2 years ago for backup and a quaker boy box call but they just don't sound the same.

My favorite call in NY can change day to day But my all-time favorite is the Quaker Boy easy yelper this call is way underrated and one of the lowest maint. calls ever made ! It is also an awesome call for teaching new hunters !

My favorite call is a Duff's clucking box "peacocker" model. It is a wood friction call that is all cedar. I havent seen calls that operate the same way. he has them on thecluckingbox.com. the call was given to me and i like it alot. the tone is great and it is extremely versatile.
