Tried this the other night, holy cow it was good.
First things first, go kill a deer.
Leave the backstrap whole, slice down the middle and fill with chopped onions and a couple of spoon fulls of butter, I use about a half an onion for 1 large backstrap.
Next coat the whole thing in onion soup mix, place in a roasting bag and cook at 350 for about 25 to 30 minutes, remeber not to over cook!
The onion soup mix and butter make a good gravy to pour over some mashed taters.
