Anyone using the QB tube call? I have never used any tube calls and want to try one this year. All the brands seem to be the same, plastic tube w/ latex.

Not all of them have an awesome Pilgrim on the side! All kidding aside, tube calls are pretty good locator calls. You can cutt and also gobble on them like a maniac. The QB version is very compact and can stow away very easily.

they are great for loud yelping and cutting...They'll get a bird to gobble when nothing else will....

I got my super snuff this afternoon in the mail. Had to readjust the tension of the latex, it seemed way loose out of the package. It had a tear on the side of the latex. Ran (or attempted to run) it with for about 30 mins and got some decent yelps but nothing consistent. Going to concentrate on this call and hopefully will have some confidence to use it this spring. Where do you guys get that replacement green latex? Mine had a tear right out of the package and had prolly been sitting on a shelf in a store for who knows long.

Tim, you can order it direct from Quaker Boy. Call the 1 800# and ask for Bob Wozniac. He is in charge of customer relations. He will point you in the right direction. At the SHOT show, there was an actual retail package of Green latex for the call.

Hey Tim,
The tube call will take some time to get used to. You can make everycall of the wild turkey on it. I have been fine tuning my Kee-kee run. I can actually make some real good simple honks like a goose!
I've messed around with 2 reeds as well. I like the green on top and proph. underneath. Stagger them a little just like a mouth call, real raspy.....Good luck!

Thanks Phil. Just on a side note. My QB Super Snuff Tube had latex that was old (prolly been sitting on shelf for a while) right of the package. It wore out very quickly and tore. I called Bob at QB and he sent me (1) green latex and (1) white latex free of charge and a spanking new 2009 QB Catalog to boot. Thats great customer service. I think I like the white latex better than the green. Still working this call and sounding better everyda

Hey Tim,
I think the white or clear latex sound the best too. it takes less air to operate the call because the latex is just a bit thinner.
Your kidding Bob is the man! Always right there with the cust. service! Hunter's First Choice for a reason!
Check out the new Fire Box, dual curve, pretty sweet. And waterproof!
Let me know how the tube is coming!

How much of a gap do you guys like in the bottom of the latex? Photo of mine below. Does it have to be straight across, mine seems to be slightly curved. I'm having fun with this call and it will see some field time this spring.

I run mine with the same curve in it sometimes. Other times, I run it straight and tight, and get super sharp Cutts. Play around with the gap, you might find it easier to blow the way it is, or you may even like it with no gap at all.
Tim, have you heard back from your friend, by chance?

Tim,
You can use any latex on that call. I've got plenty if you ever need any. I just use what I make my mouth calls out of, I run a .004" on mine. The set up you have looks fine. I ALWAYS have a little bow on my reed. It is the back tension that causes it. How much latex did they send you? TWO whole pieces????

Hey Tim,
That looks good. I try to just hold the latex in place covering 1/2 the tube loosely. The cover seems to draw up the right amount of tension for that sweet sound your looking for. You will see a small curve to the latex as in your pic.
Great thing about theSuper Snuff Can is if the sound needs some fine tuning just take the top off and readjust the latex. It's quick and easy to do, even in the field.
Also the more you use the call, the latex will stretch out, therefore needing some more tuning. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the help guys. Should have tried the tube call years ago. First saw Scott run one in Jumper Creek a couple of years ago and it sounds like nothing else in the woods. Probably one of the harder calls to master IMO, but I'm getting close to having it fine tuned.

Palmetto Swamp,
I do have one but seldom use it. I think it's a Primos call; If I could put my hands on the Knight and Hale 30th Anniversary Tube Call would really be nice. It uses a latex skin with a rubber band around the neck.
