Well to start off this was my first hunt with rifle. Every year me and my father head to our camp for the bow season. Well this year we did both. We didnt get anything with the bows so we figured we'd go for rifle season. Our camp is located in ontario and we have abour 480 acres of land to hunt. There is 11 guys in the camp we all have shares in the camp. Well we arrived the saturday moring before season opened which allowed to me go do some scouting of the area. I did this because the deer always change there paths and i figured i'd look around to see if they had. I was out for about 6 hours scouting around putting down salt licks and mineral blocks(which i find work wonders). Then i came upon a heavily used path so i figured id set up here opening day in hope i can land my first big buck. Opening day finally came around and i was soo excited so i got all geared up and headed out abuot 4:30am and get myself set up. Well sure enough the wind picked up and it started the rain started to pour. I tried to wait it out but i t was just too bad out so we all headed back in. On my way back to the camp around 9:30 am i came across fresh droppings still kinda steaming. So i sat down and gave a few grunts and shure enough out came a nice 8 pointer about 60 yards in front of me. But heres the down fall to this one the deer was on the other property and not coming across so i let that one go and firgured id get in a lil later on. Well we didnt go out the rest of the day weather got way to bad so we bunked in for the night. The next morin it was clear skies. I decided to chance up my walkin pattern and go around the water line up to my spot. Sure enough as im walkin i came along a hot trail. I sat still gave a few grunts and didnt see anything. Thank god i was down wind. As im walking to my stand 3 of the other guys who decided to drive into there stands came across a doe and 2 fawns.(we had seen these while we were up bow hunting but they were always out of range like they were teasing us) so i got a call on my radio saying theres 3 deer headed my way and to look toward there stands and sure enough i see the first fawn come out about 400 yards in front of me. I pirched myself in the prone position to get a more stable shot i sighted it in and fired my my arm sliped from under me and i missed the first shot. I thought for shure it was going to take off but it stayed right there. So i reloaded and sighted him in again. He was sitting perfectly broad side at that too. So i took a breath and fired. BANG! i looked up and seen that i hit him. It took off running into the thick bush. Then as im reloading i seen the doe pop out and my heart went crazy ive never felt like this before then they told me it was buck fever haha. I thought to myself am i dreaming so i got on the radio to get the ok to shoot the doe and shure enough everyone with the radios started tellin me to shoot. shoot the damn thing if its brown taker down boy. So i sighted her in and bang. Clean and perfect kill dropped on the spot. Now my heart is just puping with adrenaline. And to my surprise the 3rd fawn came out now im thinking this is way to good to be true. But it was behind the shrubs and i couldnt get a clear shot at it. But the other guys had a clean shot and took it down. I wish my father was there beside me to witness my first kill but he had to take one of the guys to the hospital because of a minor stroke. When he got back i had told him the news and at first he didnt believe me till the other guys backed me up. Ive never been soo happy in my life. Hunting has showed me alot over the years. Self respect discipline and respect for animals and the enviroment. Ive been hunting for about 9 years and this was my first rifle hunt. Ive gotten plenty with bow but this was something different. a lil easier i may add but the feelin is soo amazing. And i also owe a thank u to quaker boy for there excellent bleet and grunt calls. I swear by this brand and will stick with it. well that is my story and i must say hunting is the best way to relax and unwind from everyday life nothing is better than seeing that deer just as the sun rises and the fog rolls out. Thank you for taken the time to read this. Leave me some comments and tell me what u think,, Wouldnt mind gettin feedback to hunting tips and such as im always wanting to improve and one day land that trophy buck:) attached is the picture of the doe as well
