Wow, what an experience.
I took my girlfriend to my property with me, I had seen some turkey sign in my food plot and I was going to move an old feeder that I haven't been using up to the plot, so were riding my 4 wheeler with my old noisy trailer on the back, we have found lots of tracks, scat and even a few feathers in the plot, so I am excited to say the least. Around the corner we go and to the top of the hill, and i see a few turkeys racing through the woods. I stop and turn the 4 wheeler off, just to watch for a minute. They stop, only about 60 yards away and they just go back to feeding, then I realize back off to the left, there are more birds, and it sounds like every turkey in oklahoma.we have driven the 4 wheeler right smack in the middle of a huge flock of birds, so we just sit.I cant see the other birds there just over a little hill.

Then a Jake from the bunch on the right decides he wants to be with the other group, he walks back to the fence, where we are and starts trying to find a place to cross, my fence has hog wire from top to bottom, the guy that sold the property to me used to raise goats. The jake is running up and down the fence trying to find a place to cross. He is no farther than 10 or 15 yards. He keeps darting back and forth, and hes getting a little closer each time.

He then I guess decided, we haven't killed him yet we must be ok. He walks right up to us on the other side of the fence, I mean within 6 feet. This has gone on for at least 10 minutes. I just turned the wheeler back on and went on down to where the feeder was, loaded it up and started back. got back to the hill, now another group of jakes are on the other side of the fence beeing led by a tom with at least a ten inch beard, then the whole darn flock pops out, so we turn the wheeler back off. Jakes to the left jakes to the right, toms strutting about 30 yards in front of us, and the biggest flock of hens i have ever seen at one time. oh yea, that one jake was still trying to cross the fence.

Im saying all the hard work it takes to get a decent food plot pays off. Cant wait for April.

Great story!!

I out this morning and heard hens yelping and 3-4 gobblers sound off two different times while on the limb. They all pitched down and went tight lipped like any good osceola should:D

Little early here yet and it was cold this morning. Soon.

I saw two strutters with 9-10in beards with 4 hens in some peoples front yard yesterday. I had to do a double take. I thought the guy had some full mount decoys out there airing out, but they were the real deal!

yea, I am really pumped. I had a few birds hanging around last year during deer season, but right after season they disapeared, we are only 6 weeks out and with that many birds on my property I am just fired up.

Good luck this spring Tony, sounds like you got it all figured out.

Gobblers are so dang mean in Beatdown City, they just chill in the front yard drinking a High Life (camo can of course)

Their relatives won't be living the High Life in twenty five days:p
